NEA Dedicates $200 Million Investment to India

Wednesday, February 21, 2007 6:00:00 AM PDT | VentureDeal Staff

BALTIMORE, MDNew Enterprise Associates will invest up to $200 million in India, via its Bangalore and soon-to-be opened Mumbai offices.

NEA’s most recent fund - NEA 12 - is one of the largest investors in NEA-IndoUS Investors, a fund that invests in early stage companies in the US and India.  While the firm has been selectively investing in India for some time, it is upping the ante with its decision to open offices there.  NEA believes that India offers a friendly environment for venture investing.

NEA invests in early and late-stage IT and health care companies, and closed on its 12th fund last July, pulling in $2.5 billion in new funds.
